Up and coming stars of the public sector
Phones were poised to capture the perfect commemorative selfie as 14 graduates from the 2018 Public Sector’s school based traineeship program celebrated the end of the training and the start of their promising careers.
Public Sector Commissioner Sharyn O’Neill acknowledged the vibrant trainees committed at a young age to expanding their skills and contributing to the community.
“I’m invigorated standing here today seeing the eager faces of the graduates. They have worked hard and with abundant enthusiasm. I wish them all the very best as they set foot on the path working for the Western Australian public.”
Ten of the graduates have been snapped up by their sponsor agencies for ongoing employment. One has been so inspired by the program that they have enrolled in further education.
Benjamin Langman won the Award for Excellence in VET, Dianella Secondary College 2018 VET Student Award and achieved his Western Australian Certificate of Education all while thriving at the Department of Education – and nurturing his love of soccer and athletics.
“I’m so happy to have had this opportunity. I love going to work and I’m excited about continuing my career at the Department of Education,” he said.
Ms O’Neill thanked agencies, mentors, schools and families for their commitment to making a difference to youth employment outcomes in Western Australia.
