Leading people and change takes centre stage

The Public Sector Commission’s 2017 Leadership essentials module, ‘Leading people and change’ was recently conducted, assisting leaders engage and motivate during times of change, and providing guidance to support their staff to be at their productive best.

The module was run in collaboration with the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), and gives leaders the courage to establish shared expectations and values, leading to high-performing teams.

Participants also enjoyed a tour of the historic His Majesty’s Theatre, a venue that provides arts experiences for the Western Australian community. The tour highlighted the unique work of DLGSC and the diverse roles public sector leaders may find themselves in.

Leadership essentials is a development program for senior managers, and provides the tools for developing agile and adaptive leaders, confident to lead across the broad areas of the WA public sector. Agencies interested in hosting the program to showcase the work of their department should contact leadership@psc.wa.gov.au.

Expressions of interest from Level 7 – 9 leaders wishing to participate in the 2018 Leadership essentials program are also welcome.
