Rubrics and Marking Keys - Grading and Feedback with Rubrics in Higher Education

Participants will learn how to develop rubrics and look at how they support assessment. There will be focus on the use of rubrics in giving specific and meaningful feedback to students, in addition to how they can save grading time for the lecturer.

While this session has been designed for Higher Education lecturers, it will be suitable for VET lecturers who want a better understanding of assessment and feedback practices, or for those considering moving into Higher Education teaching.

The Facilitator Becky Saunders has been involved in the VET sector for over 19 years in both in the UK and Australia and has worked as a lecturer, manager and professional development consultant. She worked for four years as a Senior Project Manager at DET where she designed, delivered and managed State and National professional development programs for the TAA Training Package, the TLQF, AQTF, RPL and was the Project Manager for TAFEWA Instructional Intelligence program.

Becky’s passion for teaching and learning drives her to discover ever more creative and powerful ways to engage students and maximise their outcomes. She is based at the School of Education at Murdoch University where she currently teaches.
