DataMax - Maximising Opportunities with Government Data

Department of the Premier and Cabinet

Event outline

Governments are one of the largest collectors and custodians of data. This data is a hugely important asset and a source of significant opportunity and value for the public sector, industry and the community.

Opening access to this data generates new insights, ideas, tools and services that help improve the way we work, live and play. The Western Australian Government is looking to build on its existing open data activity through its soon-to-launch Whole of Government Open Data Policy.

The application of big data and big data analytics is also a growing resource that can increase the value of government data assets. With the growing availability of data and the required processing methods, we are now able to ask questions that were previously unanswerable.

We invite all public sector employees who want to learn more about the opportunities and benefits of open data, through case studies and discussion, to attend this seminar. You will also find out more about how this relates to big data and how big data can be used by government.
This event is proudly hosted by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet’s Office of Science and the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre.
